We learn and unlearn certain behaviors and attitudes as we go through life. Some of these are helpful, while others are not. In comes awareness; awareness can change your life because it allows us to go deep within ourselves to address issues that are weighing heavily on our minds.
In my own life, self-awareness has allowed me to make positive changes and experience happiness. Between 2008 and 2011, I faced severe depression, and the financial, mental, and physical impacts of a crashing economy left me in a shattered state.
I, like many others, initially avoided confronting the source of my unhappiness, assuming that time would eventually heal the wounds. I was, however, mistaken.

One day, I decided to face reality and acknowledged that if I wanted things to change, I needed to alter my approach. I realized that I would continue receiving the same results if I kept on doing the same things.
I couldn't afford to wait for changes to occur; instead, I had to take control and initiate change. So I began implementing small changes consistently over time.
In reality, like attracts like, so if you wish to experience joy and success, you must surround yourself with opportunities and individuals who share the same vision.
As a result, I accepted new challenges, remained open to new opportunities, and interacted with others who shared my goals. I'm happy, healthier, and optimistic about the future right now.
I've realized that my destiny is in my own hands, and that I am the sole person responsible for determining the course of my adventure. If I strive for happiness and fulfillment, regardless of the outcome, I will most likely have no regrets.
