Today is a gorgeous day and I feel so good. I’m sitting on my patio watching my niece and her friends play in the pool as I reflect back over my life and the past 5 years.
It wasn’t very long ago when I was very depressed, having thoughts of ending it all, and looking at my son thinking – I don’t deserve you; why did you choose me?
As I thought about what his friends would think when they saw the foreclosure sign in the yard once we moved. Turns out the broker was nice enough to not do that, for me.
Imagine this, you’re in your early 30’s, you’ve been saving saving and investing your money, and as of today you have +/- $227,000 in your savings account.
Then 25 months from now it’s down to $11,000 because you’ve had no choice but to live off of it – and it’s slowly diminishing day by day.
How would that make you feel?
Bad huh? I know… that was me in 2010. I had a thriving business for 12 years and all of a sudden out of nowhere, BOOM!
The real estate market which held up the economy for so long just crashed seemingly overnight, and my empire crashed with it.
A setback is a set up for a comeback.
I lost my homes (investment properties and personal home), money, and to top it all off my marriage failed. My clients were losing their jobs, taking massive pay cuts and even losing their homes too.
I just want to stop the bleeding for all of us.
I’d wake up thinking this can’t be the end, there has to be a better way! Then I started praying for something different, something that would allow me to help people so that I could forget about all of my problems.
Something with a low investment because I didn’t have much to spare. More importantly, I needed to be around people that were committed to being prepared for when this happens again, because you know it will.
God is so good!
He sent me an angel in the form of a man who’s house I cleaned for several years. He gave me 2 tickets to see Robert Kiyoski at a wealth building seminar and recommended a few books that I highly recommend you read.
I’ll provide links to them at the bottom of this blog post, I added a couple in that list myself.
After attending the seminar and connecting back with my client, I set a 3-year goal to be financially independent again AND then went on my search.
At the end of the day I needed something recession proof!
After doing my research, looking at several franchises, independent contractor opportunities I realized that network marketing was the right vehicle for me to pursue.
If you look at what’s out there in todays business world, you’ll see that network marketing has the lowest financial risk and it’s even one of the fastest ways for anyone to create financial independence.
That’s if one is committed to working it at least 5 – 10 hours a week.
So I started looking for a company, it needed to be in health and wellness (learn why in the video below).
I found it!
What I love most is that I get to help people improve their quality of life as well as help people build a successful business so that they can possibly avoid going through what I went through.
I’m proud to say that I’ve recovered from all of my losses, created total financial independence in under seventeen months, and I’ve earned multiple six figures working part-time in the network marketing profession.
It helped me rebuild Elaine Thomas Interiors into a brand that I love more than ever, because I get to offer affordable soft-goods without having to charge an arm and a leg.
That’s the beauty of having multiple streams of income!
I define financial independence as having recurring income that comes in and covers all of my liabilities with plenty left to save and or invest every month. That definitely takes time, just know that it’s possible.
Over to you!
If you lost your income, how many months would you survive off of your savings?
I was able to live off mine for a little over 24 months when the economy crashed, but most people don’t have enough to carry them longer than 3 months. Scary thought isn’t it? You know what’s even scarier?
Knowing that you don’t have enough saved and doing noting about it.
If the economy crashed one time, it can crash again. If someone lost a job once, they can lose another. So many things can happen to cause an income loss, but you can do something now to be prepared just in case.
There’s no pressure, and by that I mean – I will not try to convince you, I promise!
