Do you like to share your experiences, thoughts, and viewpoints on life? Are you searching for a way to generate passive income online? If you answered yes to both, starting a lifestyle blog could work for you.
Below I share 5 reasons why I started a lifestyle blog. Maybe they'll help you get started, too.
#1 It's a Creative Outlet
Blogging provides a platform to express your creativity. With a lifestyle blog, you can share your insights on a plethora of topics. See what I've highlighted below:
- Home Decor
- Beauty
- Travel
- Relationships
- Personal Finance
- Health & Wellness
- Fitness
- Entrepreneurship
- Parenting
You can share your journey too. Since I'm working on improving my health, home, and income, those are the 3 topics that my lifestyle blog is about.

#2 Connect with Like-Minded People
Through blogging, you have the opportunity to connect with people who have interests and passions like yours. You can build a community of readers who genuinely appreciate your content.
Also, collaborating with bloggers and brands within your niche helps you expand your network and reach people who probably wouldn't have found you.
You will want to create an email list to stay connected with your readers. This will allow you to send them your new articles and other updates.
I use Flodesk because you get unlimited subscribers for just $38mo. The emails are gorgeous, and my open rates are incredible!!!
They even have a feature that allows you to create a beautiful page similar to Linktree, but better.
This way, you can grow your email list and share links that are important to you.
I'm an affiliate; feel free to use my link to reduce the investment to $19mo.
#3 Personal Growth
Blogging can be a life-changing experience when it comes to personal and professional growth. I love how it offers opportunities for self-improvement, such as learning new skills like SEO or marketing. Not to mention honing in on your writing and communication abilities.
#4 Monetization
I've heard some people say monetization should not be your primary motivation for starting a blog. I don't completely agree with that at all. Think of it as a job, we go to work to earn a living and take care of our responsibilities. Once your blog is up and running, you can monetize it through affiliate marketing, sponsored posts, and advertisements with companies like google and mediavine. This can help you earn extra income or even turn your blog into a full-time business. I have a post on how to join Amazon's Affiliate Program if you're interested.
#5 Flexibility
One of my favorite things about having lifestyle blog is how flexible it is. You are free to work on your blog whenever, from anywhere, and at a pace that seems comfortable for you. Also, you are free to publish as often or as little you like. While some people post daily, others publish once or twice per week. This makes it a fantastic option for anyone who wish to balance working on a creative project with other commitments.
I'm personally building out this lifestyle blog and I own a drapery design firm. I spend about an hour a day on the blog because drapery is my full-time business.
I hope I gave you enough info to see how starting a lifestyle blog can be rewarding. Feel free to pin it or share it with someone who is looking for a creative project that they can also monetize without interfering with their full-time job or business.
